Richard E. Childs, 67, of Prairie City, Illinois passed away at 4:31 PM on Saturday March 22, 2025 at Allure of Lake Story in Galesburg, IL. He was born on October 29, 1957 in Carrollton, Missouri to Thomas E. and Anna Josephine (Riley) Childs.
Richard graduated from Bushnell-Prairie City High School class of 1976. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1980 and was honorably discharged in 1984 as an E-5. He worked in factories for much of his life, including maintenance at Midwest Control Products in Bushnell, IL, before becoming the primary care taker for his mother until her passing.
Richard loved riding bicycles with family and friends, and building custom bicycles. He also loved to fish, hike, and camp. Richard was an avid RAIDERS fan, and enjoyed watching and discussing games with his son. He was always just a phone call away to help a friend in need.
